This Weekend...

We went to Lumut. Had a moderately fun time :D Took pictures (which I've left to sit in my camera) and am posting up the ones that were in my mobile...

Mostly our foodie journey up to Lumut, so here's what we had for lunch. Stopped by at Sekinchang, the place is an old riverside hangout my parents like to go to from time to time. The last time I was here, I was knee high to a duck. Sad but true. This visit, the food wasn't all that impressive, but the noodles and calamari were fantastic :)

Sweet n' Sour crabs, and sib's boobs.... the crabs, apparently, were on the geriatric end of the life spectrum...Sib's boobs still okay for a few more decades ;)

Something called the bamboo oyster. Or lala...or whatever the fuck. I don't eat shellfish, so I dunno. I heard these were too big. What the fuck, discrimination comes in all shapes and ages :p

Okay, these passed muster. Crisp, not soggy and wilted with oil, light batter and great squid...not old and tough and stringy, nor crunchy. Perfect :)

Aaaand this is the right hand ring hubby bought for me yesterday. It's not a great example of the marquise cut, but the setting is such that the shallowness of the stone isn't obvious, and it sparkles whichever way I turn my fingers. It's gorgeous squared! Well, gorgeous marquise, I should say...Unfortunately, I had some problems taking a picture of it at a decent distance... the limitations of my little camera.

As hubby says, it's a sweetheart gift. Not something bought for value, but for decoration. I love it!!!

Since the Cammies...

Yeah, following from the post before the last...

Our CircleSong group... it can get pretty intense. We're putting up a show in September, and we're doing totally amazing stuff. We don't have what you'd call "rehearsal" sessions because we don't have fixed material to rehearse. Rather, we make stuff up as we go along and come up with some unique sounds. The group is starting to really grow both creatively and socially, so I'm expecting big things from this project :)

Kakiseni reunites with esteemed (totally cool, and utterly whacked) boss Kathy Rowland, who was back solely for the Awards. The funky new hairdo is tres hip, whatcha think? :) Zedeck's victory cheer (goodness knows why)...and party crashers Nicole, SoulDoc and hubby...and me. Hehe :p

Raju's, our regular hangout, is saturated with waiters who trip over themselves to serve Miss Universe 1969, Viji... a fact that never fails to amuse, hawhaw :D Anyway, al fresco dining...quite nice lah. A bit of an adventure too. You never know when something will fall from the trees.. if you're lucky, it's just parts of the tree, and not its avian visitors :p

The Awards night was fun. Dressed up for once, then found it deucedly awkward and way too bulky to dance at the after-party party. Cheh. That'll teach me to conform!!! :D Don't have a piccie of me, but I do have one of Ju, wielding my mask for the night, which I hardly put up to my face, ha! I know, so lazy kan? Love the mask though! :D

Wither Ms. Read's Delicious goeth, we shalt follow! And my stomach led me unerringly to my favorite dessert of all time from said restaurant, the Berrylicious Chocolate Pavlova! Note that it'd been consumed with much gusto, before I decided to snap a few photos of it with my new phone.

That's a pic of Hubby's new tattoo...it's supposed to be some protective symbol. I think he definitely needs it. He's managed to mash his fingers up while working, and picked up a few other work-related injuries along the way :p I'd tell him to pray more often, but I think he's a bit disillusioned at the moment. The year of the Pig hasn't been kind at all :) We're just weathering it out...

Umm...did I mention I got a new phone? Yeah, the old one died. Don't blame me!! I've got to admit I do change my phone a bit too often, but this time, it was totally warranted! My N73 was figuratively coughing up blood... it was on its last gasp :p I'm still trying to figure out how GPS will benefit me, but being able to wi-fi from my phone at Starbucks is pretty fracking awesome too, hehehe :D

Anyways, that's it for now. Have a date with the hubby to watch some cartoon on DVD with Da Doll ;)

Inanity...

What is that bulge that fell from my face?
Oh fuck it's my chin, and it ain't goin' no place...
Except for where dear gravity calls...
Whoop there it goes, watch as it falls!

Bloomp, blurble, bleep, blooooot...
I can feel my flab bobble like a string to a boot,
Wheeeeee!! Can't you see?! There's a zit on the tip,
If I keep eating this way, it'll outgrow my lip!

Fuck if I know when the cravings'll go 'way,
Heck, for all I know, it's here to stay!
Oh well, what the hell, I'll ride this bitch through...
Good thing hubby loves me, as I am...'deed he do ;)

When We Got Home...

Nics roped us in to Front of House for the Beckett production she and the KL Ensemble Theatre Group had put up at the Stor, DBKL. While there, we managed to terrorize a family of feral felines, scared off the F&B boys (after first buying up their entire stock), amused Shiraz, traumatized Chris (Jacobs) and....watched helplessly as a poor homeless cat at the mamak we had supper at get run over by some speed-crazed road hog.

I was totally useless man! I just screamed when I saw that poor ginger tabby fold onto the ground in a daze, blood running from its nostrils. Nics and Hazlin were quick, grabbing a towel from only God-knows-where, and wrapping the poor cat in it. Nobody saw it happen, but I kinda knew it was going to (subconsciously) when I heard the roar of an engine going way too fast for the back lane of a high-rise residential area, and the awareness of the cat being behind me. My back was to the main road.

Think about it. If the guy had been drunk, he might have just as easily hit one of us. Bastard.

Bloody slimy, fucking, BASTARD. He didn't even stop to see what the ruckus was about!!

Some cursed instinct had me turning around in time to see the cat get knocked. For some strange reason, my eyes were totally focused on it. The beacon of bright ginger, and everything happening as if in slow motion. I barely registered the vehicle that ran over it, it was that fast. It was a dark blur, and the poor animal was tumbled around before crumpling to the ground.

It couldn't have taken more than a few seconds.

And I screamed. Uselessly. Helplessly. And couldn't make a move to help it.

Nics is a member of a Pet Rescue team that operates without sponsorship, and totally on their own free time. She and her hubby, Kenneth, took the poor cat (I'd given it up for dead) to the vet along Jalan Ipoh, paid for its medication and examination out of their own pockets, and moved the cat to her regular vet in Shah Alam where they charge way less to help the poor animal.

There hasn't been any positive news so far, but this cat, if it lives without being brain-damaged, will be housed by the Pet Rescue team until some kind humanitarian will take it in. The Selangor Phil might try raise funds to assist in any way the Pet Rescue team effort, if I can have my way with the committee.

After watching them in action, I think they really deserve every single bit of help they can get. If ANYONE wants to get in touch with these guys, to adopt some poor homeless cat, dog, or to even volunteer some time, find Nics through the link to her blog provided.

Photo time:

On the way to the mamak was, in typical Malaysian fashion, this....

If you ask me, there's something wrong with Malaysians in general. I mean, we ATE at the mamak with this garbage flavoring our food and permeating our olfactory senses.

In between the matinee and the evening performance, hauled SoulDoc to Sg. Wang to shop. She picked this up. Wonder if it's quirky, or just wrong. What think you??

Firstly....Bangkok!!!

The view from a tuk-tuk!! We raced around in one of these (futilely) on the day of our departure... I say futilely because we should have realized nothing would be open at 8:30am. I blame my mom and her insane sms asking us to bring back a batch of lotus seeds (for propogation)...on a Monday. I mean, c'mon. We spent both Saturday and Sunday at Chatuchak...and she couldn't've remembered to ask for it then???

I don't think that dude realized his CarryBoy*tm* was flapping up, ready to bitch-slap an unsuspecting motorcyclist on the face.

The view of the pool from the balcony of our room on the 26th floor. I have pics of every room in our 2-room suite. I thought it was really nice of them to upgrade our one-room suite to a two-room, but totally unnecessary. There was just me and the hubby. However, it was fully equipped for long stays, so I'll definitely be recommending the Somerset to my family...

That's the bar-style dining table, and beyond that is a complete kitchen. It's got the necessary cutlery for a family of four, cooking utensils, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, full-sized fridge, washing-up detergent that came complete with an unopened scouring sponge, and an exhaust fan (hubby says that's what it's called...) to clear the air of redolent cooking scents.

The contrast of Bangkok. Right outside our hotel, an old housing area. Somewhat shabby, run-down, grungy. And right next door is that building. On the same block. Beyond that is the "lake" that our hotel is named after, directly in front of the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre. The musical fountain provided some interesting lighting at night.

I didn't take any pictures while I was roaming the city, I was spending too much time shopping and enjoying the accent of the recorded voice they play on the MRT... :D I was just glad to have hubby back. We were on a budget (which we blew), yet managed to have as much fun as possible.

Ramblings of a Rabid Reader...?

I've only traveled the world...the galaxy....the universe in my mind. Through the works of various writers (and no, Janet... none of them what I would term "intellectual"), whose texts overflow the confines of my tiny bedroom, I am a bona-fide world traveler.

Traveling is a cumbersome undertaking, requiring preparation, certification, thought and cash. Wads and wads of liquid assets. WADS! So it would be nice to be able to just pack up a small backpack with the essentials and head off. Something I plan on doing if I ever get to visit Aleeza in L.A. *peers at Aleeza in case she's reading this :D*

Wonder if I could smuggle myself onboard some ocean-liner heading towards her direction. I wouldn't have to worry about a visa or even a passport... only about being deported, and of course, finding a proper loo for the month on sea...

Hmm...

I'll admit it sounds funner (NOT!!!)... but I think I'll do it properly all the same, thanks.

Anyways, I'm just eager to see hubby... will post more on my trip out later :)

Souped to the MAX...

No, not talking about cars here...zomg!!! I had the midnight munchies in a BIG way. So... since I'm supposed to be watching what I put into my (gigantic) belly, I thought of soup. But, hold the phone there! We're out of good ole Campbell's... and I was having a MAJOR craving for soup...

Rummaged in the frig... geez. The veggie crisper's actually stocked, yah? Dunno what m'dad's been on, but he's been marketing. Wow! I found chinese lettuce... so peeled off one leaf. One. Leaf. And grabbed a carrot I suspect was meant for the bunny (sorry Hopper luv!!) and found in the root basket red onions, cloves of garlic, and potatoes.

So... chopped up the pitiful leaf, made little carrot wheels which I halved and set to soak clean. Peeled a potato with a knife not meant for peeling (I was a wee bit afraid I'd slice off a digit with that knife), cubed an onion and smashed up some garlic.

It's not really a big meal. Seriously. The one potato wouldn't have done as much damage as a plate of maggi goreng with the requisite telur mata kerbau, french fried and soggy with week-old oil. I didn't even use a large potato, but a medium-sized one.

But, in my zeal, I had thrown in roughly 2 liters (I suspect it was closer to three liters...) of water, and I felt duty bound to finish it. That much water, plus the two glasses of unflavored H2O, is the reason that I'm now wide awake and sitting up, unable to get horizontal as is my habit, with my book.

Whoa... right after washing up, I was dashing for the loo... that much water, okay?! :p Hahahahaha...!!!

Anyway, I think I'm going to play the Sims 2 some more. I'm way too full to lie down.

But I just want to clarify... it's MOSTLY WATER! (I keep telling myself that, I won't feel so bad about indulging, hehe) :D

Out of Sync

Just recently, I was told not to judge a person (based on whatever they were exuding to make me appear judgmental, I guess?) as I reckon I must've acted as prissy and unlike myself as I could be.

Odd, that. I had the thought that the person (who had told me to not judge people) would probably not have my problem, being an essentially nicer person, and one who (rumor has it) was once promised to the service of God...

I have no actual point, nor defense. I don't believe I was being judgmental, but I know I was a lot less of me, that I'd ever been. If that makes any sense.

I guess, as I get older...no, I can't use that excuse, it doesn't fly. Lol! I've always been somewhat tactless, and a lot less restrained than I ought to be. Anyway, I thought I handled myself quite tactfully, although I have to say, I was bursting at the seams with good (and restrained!) behavior!

There are seasons, shall we say, where I lose my balance both emotionally and socially. It's a deuced pain in the flaming arse, and the only cure for it is enforced isolation. So help me, God... I need to get away again. Regain some balance, regain some tact :p

And of course, am missing the spousie-unit. It's amazing how much more calm and centered I feel when the hubby is around. I guess he really is overdue to return home and help me find myself again. Here's to praying he gets his fine ass back home, and soon!!!

Photos for the Blahs...

It occurs to me when one walks around with an N73, more photos should be snapped on the fly, no?

Anyways, it's 20 minutes past Easter (give or take a minute or three :p) and I've had the blahs just about the whole past week. WM threw a birthday party (for herself) at Jarrod & Rawlins where I encountered these:

*EDIT = I stand corrected. Whye Mun threw a birthday party in appreciation of her friends and not for herself, save one ingrate (read: ME! :D) who insists the sentence up there was not a reflection of the utter pathetic'ness of someone throwing a party for herself, but simply poor usage of the english language :p

Rather than try to figure out why it won't stick to the saved version of these pins in a vertical position, I shall go with WM...and say: "I saw her shoes and ran her over so I could take a picture of her HAWT legs"

Those sandals are beyond "Fuck Me Heels"...those are officially "Tie Me Up, Fuck me, and SPANK ME Heels"....n'est ce pas? ;)

Anyways, that was last night...well, technically, the night before last. And yesterday evening (we're being technical... :p) I was having a major attack of the Blahs... so got Callie online, and made a date to stuff my face with Pavlova from DELIcious in Bangsar Village...

Whipped out my N73 and took these while driving...in order of the journey :D

From the University Hospital exit onto the Federal, my view of our own "Golden Arches"... I take photos while speeding down a highway, which goes to show I probably do have some sort of deathwish. Or something :p No, lets not think about it...

Another photo that prefers lying down, for some damned reason :p Up Pantai Hill to get to Bangsar Village. Loved the yellow lines, the only bright spot in a generally blah and overcast evening. Cal commented on the raindrops on my windscreen... yeah, so it was cuz of those raindrops we chose to eat at Delicious, cuz otherwise I woulda opted for South Pac in PJ State :D

Aaaaand down the hill. Is that sky just depressing or what? :p I think I was weaving all over the road at that point, and I just couldn't be arsed to give two shits :p Good thing it's a Sunday and traffic was...almost non-existent.

Aaaand that was taken while stopped at the traffic light at the corner of BV... weather's still blah and grey and depressing as heck. Thank God for Pavlova, calamari fritti and Starbucks ;) But to cap my mood, I returned to my car after my coffee to find that the birds had used my car for target practice :p Oh well, to the carwash it goes first thing tomorrow :)

Gig et al

So...it came to pass that I sang...and all went well. For there was but a grain of doubt that it would not. But it did. So rejoice! Let the spirit soar free with exuberance, Hallelujah!!! :) *Despite Sun's insistence on me wearing my red Celia Loe, I went with the RM30 dress from FOS. With my Nine Wests.

And such love was there for the success of my venture, that I rode forth and bought....

THAT! ---->

I dunno, but the orange color just screamed "Take me! Take me to have and to hold, through rain or shine, TAKE ME!" What's a girl to do, huh? Of course my poor little heart couldn't take its agonized cries of pain and loneliness, sitting unappreciated on the shelf. Heh heh heh.
