Silly afternoon...

It started with Empress and the Vienese Debutante Ball... Empress had the brainstorm, to get her hair and face done at the Estee Lauder model search, held at Midvalley's Centre Court. For RM300, you get professionally done hair and makeup, a door gift, a professionaly taken A4 photo and a RM250 Estee Lauder voucher, redeemable on the same day.

So me being me, I sat around ragging her and making racist jokes lah. Hawhaw! Anyways, I'd made plans with SoulDoctor to meet up while Empress was having her beautifying session.

When SoulDoc arrived, I decided to tag along with her to hit the ATM, then on the the Dance Shop (for dance shoes), and then to Madam Kwan's for an extremely late lunch. We had a good meal, but a really stoned waiter. He couldn't quite grasp the dynamics of a vegetarian meal, and in his mind, prawns are a type of vegetable.

It was, without belaboring on about it, a very ridiculous 3 minutes spent on ordering food :p

Anyway, I'm fairly sure we spent a half hour (or less) at Madam Kwan's... catching up on news. SoulDoc's in the Starmaker Music Theatre bootcamp, and she had a lot of interesting stories to tell :) Empress, however, had yet to join us, so we decided to just pick up the bill and join her instead.

When we got there, she was just getting her hair done. Mind you, an hour on makeup isn't very funny, okay :p Anyways, long-long-LONG story short, a series of factors (Sheila, the salesgirl, who was really sweet and a little pitiful hehe....SoulDoc, who'd shamed me into getting a shot done for future show ads, and Empress, who'd ragged me about...I can't even remember. I was fairly sure I was the one doing the ragging :p) contributed to my decision to glam up and get snapped.

Here's the standard touched-up version. I am definitely showing my chinese side more, ironically. Considering my racist jokes were of the anti-chinese look bent :p

Well, I didn't want to waste a good set of makeup, so I asked my sis (the one who was home...:p) to take a few test shots. These are a couple of her shots.

I favour not looking at the camera. What do you think?

Also, I do not favor my hair standing about 5 inches above my head. Especially if it's just my fringe :p

Moi, showing off eyeball versatility...look, Ma!! I can look to the left! Hoo-hoooo!!

Dead on. Prefer this pose to the one the photog/touch-up artist chose.

Anyway, that being said, I liked the end result. Despite my personal preferences on hair, the original do didn't turn out too bad :p Also, the make up did NOT take me an hour *coughEmpresscough!* to complete, so I'm really pleased with that part of it too :)

Sis is gonna touch up those pics she took, Photoshop them so I can use them for any future gig promo material, and in the meantime... I'm Sally Jang...whatcha think? :)

P/s: SoulDoc, I'm putting these up for you, k??

7 Weeks Have Gone So Fast....

*sung to the tune of GreenDay's Wake Me Up When September Ends*

First was the reunion in Bangkok... then 2 weeks of stay-at-home living, due to budgetary constraints. We got a taste of how our lives could be, if the hubby hadn't snagged a job in the Oil field. I was content, but hubby....wasn't.

I get a lot of comments from my dad that I have a lot of material desires.

I agree to a point. The point ends where the disposable income does. I mean, I could stay at home and bum and spend a little, or have a lot and blow it on a spree.

But. I would make do. I can make do. I don't get pissy, don't bemoan the lack of entertainment (bless the Internet, Sims 2 and Play Station!!) and I can improvise. Fallback position? Read and re-read the gadzillion books I've accumulated.

A snake is a snake. Food is for when you're hungry. Sleep is for all the others times you're not hungry. This is a good attitude to take when you don't have a 9-5 job. Kids, don't try this at home!

I've enjoyed reality, or what I could have of it. I managed to say goodbye today without shedding too many tears. 3 weeks... what a bonus! I'd said my goodbyes 3 weeks ago... the rest was just...bliss.

If none of you have lived without your loved ones for more than a month, for years on end, you won't appreciate what you've got. A full-time companion. A shoulder, strong arms, someone to smother with love, to bite in your anger, to kick in your pain, to hug in your loneliness and to kiss in your... well...to kiss ;)

If you appreciate him/her, despite the lack of time apart? You're the luckiest person around, and I salute you. I have loved all the aspects of a relationship. Have lived it the past few weeks. Have indulged in the sulks, shared in the laughter, shared a few germs (damn these colds :p) and basically just become closer in mind, spirit and body. Well, coulda been more body, but who's complaining, right?

A relationship should rock. Left to right, side to side, up and down. Fricking literally ROCK!!! If the seas were calm, you'd go no-place fast. And that's a solid truth. I love it. And I love my marriage. Risking your emotions is one of the greater thrills a person can live through in one's lifetime.

And I've had a hell of a ride. Now I need at least two months to recuperate. Check back here in two months to hear me whine, eh? ;)

This Weekend...

We went to Lumut. Had a moderately fun time :D Took pictures (which I've left to sit in my camera) and am posting up the ones that were in my mobile...

Mostly our foodie journey up to Lumut, so here's what we had for lunch. Stopped by at Sekinchang, the place is an old riverside hangout my parents like to go to from time to time. The last time I was here, I was knee high to a duck. Sad but true. This visit, the food wasn't all that impressive, but the noodles and calamari were fantastic :)

Sweet n' Sour crabs, and sib's boobs.... the crabs, apparently, were on the geriatric end of the life spectrum...Sib's boobs still okay for a few more decades ;)

Something called the bamboo oyster. Or lala...or whatever the fuck. I don't eat shellfish, so I dunno. I heard these were too big. What the fuck, discrimination comes in all shapes and ages :p

Okay, these passed muster. Crisp, not soggy and wilted with oil, light batter and great squid...not old and tough and stringy, nor crunchy. Perfect :)

Aaaand this is the right hand ring hubby bought for me yesterday. It's not a great example of the marquise cut, but the setting is such that the shallowness of the stone isn't obvious, and it sparkles whichever way I turn my fingers. It's gorgeous squared! Well, gorgeous marquise, I should say...Unfortunately, I had some problems taking a picture of it at a decent distance... the limitations of my little camera.

As hubby says, it's a sweetheart gift. Not something bought for value, but for decoration. I love it!!!
