The Week In Retrospect...(Photo Heavy Post Part II)

Test shot of a tin of Almond Roca. Learning the 3 cardinal rules of photography...

A more sedate picture of the 3 groups.

Bartenders at..Red Dot. Walked past taking random photos, and these guys just hopped into position :)

The WP in front of the Victoria Theatre. Posing shamelessly on the front lawn :)

Mbube, first night encore.

Dessert display @ Pacific Coffee. Other pictures of logo and venue were discouraged.

I shot someone's butt. Hehe >:)

Cecil Street, next to the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. Headed to TAPAC, Day 1, for my workshop.

TAPAC...Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre, home to many of the arts groups of Singapore. TAS new home is located here. Initially, thought it was a school building.. but not in the way I'd imagined :)

Explaining genres...

I think we were discussing interpretation of lyrics here...

Intent faces... I hope the workshoppees (is that a word?!?!) went back with some food for thought.

First night, on the stairs. Screaming fans were ambushing the other groups. We camwhored instead :)

Paid a trip to Jurong Bird Park on Sunday. Hubby spent hours taking photos. It was a muggy day, and slightly overcast. The smell of bird poop prevailed, yet despite it all, we had a good time :) One of the inmates at the park.

This guy squated on the walkway in one of the smaller aviaries. He didn't seem to mind us infringeing on his personal space :) Cool eh??

A Lorikeet feeding from a plastic cuppie thing you can purchase at the door. It's a HUGE aviary with suspended bridges linking station to station. The drink is a mix of honey and some other vitamins, and the money goes to funding the feeding and care of these cuties. But really, how cool is it to have some brightly plumed bird sweep from a tree on the opposite end, just to drink from your hand?? :)

On the way home...

And here's something from Sam... in response to the picture I posted about the dodgy Singaporean loo... here's a Malaysian one in the newly erected CENTRO building in Klang. He was so impressed, he snapped this photo straight off :)

A Week In Retrospect...(Photo Heavy Post Part I)

Like, nobody reads this blog, I don't think :) But here're pics of my week... well, starting from the point where I got my new camera. Hubby was so sweet :) I got shtuffs!! Majorly!! Also, shamelessly asked if I could hop in (at the ELEVENTH HOUR, OKAY?!?!?!) for a song at Jazz@Southbridge... I think I embarrassed myself a little, but I can now strike that off my To-Do List... Hehehe :D

NOT in order, but with related captionizing....:D

Our lovely hosts, Alex and Angie...newlyweds (relatively!) and mushy with it :)

TAS' new home...cozy!

NANU, Angie's group... She heads up The A-Cappella Society of Singapore :)

Sculpture (The black one, not the dude in green) on Boat Quay...Quirky, eh?

A manual test shot taken with my new Sony... This was outside the City Hall MRT Station.

Celebratory supper @ Lau Pa Sat, some glam'd up mamak street for tourists, that was located near the Theatre.

A shot of my goodies. Hubby had really showered me with gifts :D

A trip to Singapore has some obligations. One is to Ben & Jerry's, bless them :) These are the seats at the outlet in VivoCity.

Da Doll had been pining for these. She'd dropped the notion after a while, but when I saw these on sale, I just had to snag them up :)

Key Elements (Singapore), SJ Tone (Korea) and The Wicked Pitches (Malaysia) in a merrily murderous mood :)

A muslim grave yard, directly across the swanky new VivoCity mall...

Here's something to ponder, in spite of the clean loo frenzy in Singapore...

I present to you...the Dodgiest Loo in Singapore!!

Our hotel, gleefully pronounced by Allan as a Fuck Shop *tm*... Me, I had no complaints (eventually)... the loo works, the rooms are clean, there's no prevalent stench in the air, breakfast was adequate, and it's actually a block away from VivoCity (we didn't find this out until Day 4). Also, there's a bus stop that connects us to most everything in Singapore just down the road a ways...

Day 5 (or was it 4?) we decided to walk to VivoCity from our hotel. That's Kampong Bharu Road, Harbourfront-bound.

The view from the Peach Garden restaurant, located in the OCBC Centre on Chulia Street, a block over from Boat Quay. Lovely view :)

While waiting @ the Harbourfront Plaza (which, incidentally, seamlessly connects to VivoCity via a walkway) for the Aeroline to depart, we shopped for gifts, and finally tried out Godiva's infamous Chocolixir... Hubby stoned out on it, as did I. It was orgasmic :)

More test shots. The ceiling of my room.

Ben & Jerry's!!! Yum!!

Wow, We Made It To Klang!

So, the Wicked Pitches made it to Klang... 2007, Baby! And we didn't even have to bring our visas along. Or passports. Or whatnot :) The hall, located in the really sexy and glitzy Centro building, was very very impressive. Sam even took pictures of the loo, he was so impressed :D Hehehe.

I'm not gonna captionize these. It was a big hall, it was full of people, and it went fairly okay. 'nuff said :)

Most of the pictures were taken on Mimi's camera. So... these are the best I can come up with. Plus camwhoring photos of the hubby and I.... :)

Okie, time to log off. Gotta piano lesson in 20 minutes :D

Gwen @ Stadium Putra

So...here's a recap from last night. I was on assignment for Kakiseni's Tembak Shots... the assignment? To check out just how many malays and malaysians had a problem with our disintegrating morality...

  1. I really hadn't planned on going.
  2. Apparently, Fate had other designs on my karma...
  3. I went. To take pictures. Of protesters... who never turned up. Duh.
  4. Maybe these guys were the reason why they didn't :p

  5. I was there from 5:30pm. Read that. FIVE THIRTY PM!! Malaysians just don't know how to party anymore :(
  6. I got approached 5 times by the Hotlink people... this is me and Cathy after about the 4th time...

  7. To prove I was already bored, and that I was there really early...here's me and my timestamp:

  8. What I call the M&M suite...fuck me, it was super-boring waiting for protesters to appear. I even went up to one RELA dude to ask if anything had happened before I'd arrived. RELA didn't know anything either. Duh, man. So, boredom spate = silly pic.

  9. I saw BART SIMPSON!!! *hums the SpiderPig theme song...in public*

  10. Time passed (slowly)...so I took more inane pictures. On this night, Ma Nature lost to the Hotlink Moons...

  11. Organizers were chumps. There were LONG LINES outside and it was already 8:45. Hello? Concert starts @ 8:30!! I bumped into Amelia and family, who apparently was in line early, but had to skip to another line because when they got to the entrance, they were told they were in the wrong line. Hello...when the line is so damned long, who can see where the right entrance is? Especially when the signs are so small. Duh :p

  12. The stadium, filling up... tickets were by no means sold out, and being cheap, most everyone was sitting in the upper tiers. Me, I wasn't there for fun, and truthfully, I really wanted to stay home and play Sims 2.

  13. Malaysians are downloaders. Of which I am one... but since we mostly download hits, half the concert went over the heads of most everyone. C'mon, people! Go bone up on your stars before you catch them in action! Check this one out, taking videos and recording the action...

  14. The picture I took to prove I was there...*sigh*... by the way, security and staff were standing next to me. Nobody stopped me taking this picture, in spite of the signs they posted up. If they'd intended a proper security check, they should've started letting people in earlier... as it was, one dude in front of me actually smuggled in his CAMERA. As I was told my phone cam wouldn't be confiscated, I felt free to take (and publish) this picture. But mostly, I will add, I took pictures of what our dear old Malaysians were up to... as per my assignment :)

  15. Hubby got to watch Gwen's Wind It Up with me via 3G... go, Maxis!! :D
  16. I went home after the second song of the encore. Cuz I'm old and lame that way.

Intense!!!

So... I've been taking advantage of the complimentary PT sessions that come with signing up at the new gym. I hooked up with a rather interesting character, and after my physical assessment, he threatened me with 2 hours straight of intense weight sessions.

I scoffed lah, because. Hey. I watch the telly and do my weights and I can happily veg out a couple of hours doing it, ya? I told him that I could do it as long as I had something to occupy my mind. After all... boredom is just boring. Ya know?

Today, I turned up for our session about 15 minutes late (through no actual fault of my own, but as I had with me two little girls needing a baby sitter, I had to wait for the gym to provide a nanny while they were in the nursery...), and he swung me right into leg presses.

Wow.

Jelly legs. 4 sets, 20 reps each, ascending weight regime. Which basically means... I start out with a light weight, repeat 20 times of either lifting, pressing, curling, etc.... and then when I end a set, he ups the weight ante. Fuck me. It was hell, mostly on my knees.

And after that, it only got worse. Because I was late, I ended up doing my arm-workouts myself. Mostly. Major ouchness. OUCH.

I've got two very weak points in my body. Knee joints, and delts. Otherwise, I think I'm okay. As it is, my body isn't sore, so that's a huge plus. But I wobbled and tottered about for 2 hours after my workout, so it was a good one :)

SoulDoc and Whye Mun had a classical recital at the Wei Ling Art Gallery. Proceeds were to go to the SPCA. It was awesome, but I missed a good half of it because I was the designated Front Of House'er, and people were still trickling in at 9pm. I tucked into the sandwiches as Whye Mun wrapped up the show, and then took Da Doll to Delicious in Bangsar Village for supper.

Okay. Another unprecedented event, but I do believe I'm going to turn in before 3am tonight. The workout is such a miracle on my sleeping inclinations :)

Friday, August 17

The obsession began...yonks (literally!) ago.

I wandered in, and there they sat! The exact same color as the ones I own now, although I must admit I'd had my heart set on the turquoise blues. I slipped my feet in...and they felt like heaven!

I stared at the price tag....RM1988!! I'm a poor girl. Where do I find RM1988 for shoes, puhleeze?!?! And so, I gave up the idea of owning thems preciousssssnessessss....

However, circumstances arranged themselves...the cosmos acted in my favor, and the Great Malaysian Sale (Part 2) did it's part in kicking the hefty price tag down 60%...

KARMA!!! :)

After a quick consult with my Financial Advisor and the canny plan she cooked up to lessen my guilt for splurging on something as ridiculous as pricey sandals, I was on my way to the store with a wad of cash in my wallet.

I walked in, and was greeted by a smiley (non-judgmental) salesgirl. I tag on that non-judgmental bit, because in my vast experience, people like me are not the norm in pricey boutiques. And the sales reps are never afraid to let me know it :p

To be sure of my decision, I opted to try everything they had on in the store (footgear-wise). However, 5 pairs of shoes later, my feet unanimously voted on these. I know they don't look like much, but they are so damned COMFY. I bought a pair of Fiorucci sandals with kitten-heels, and my feet got so swollen, and the leather chaffed so bad, I was in pain for 2 weeks.

These just flat out did it for me. Not to mention, after doing some price comparisons online, I learned that the shoe model also shares a name with my daughter, that Net-A-Porter has sold out on these, and that they were going at GBP255, that they're the last pair on sale, and they're in MY size....and the sales lady gave it to me at 70% off because of it. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Love!!! The cosmos loves my fat arse, I can tell you that. Best of all, when I sms'd hubby to consult with him the wisdom in buying shoes with a price tag matching a kenduri bill... well. The darling man laughed and told me to splurge on myself.

UNPRECEDENTED, OKAY?!?!?! :)

And....here they are! Pics and pics!

The little printed card that comes in the box.
Note that I laugh at the care instructions...
I can't even take care of myself, much less
my goods :p Yeesh.

My babies! Awwww..... :)

Hmm...don't ask me about the woman on that
noir sheet in the background. It's the wrapper
for the box. At least she's got a fold'ie back.
Skinny models = unrealistic.

The Fruit Don't Fall Far...

Dear ole dad... if you think my humor is whacked, you should meet my dad.

I was describing to my niece and her friend that the smell outside our window was composting rabbit poop. Her grimace was mild, but my dad was grinning wickedly in the background.

"It's more than rabbit poop... I added in...chicken shit!" he announced with relish.

My niece's grimace was a wonder to behold. She asked "how do you get chicken shit??" and I jumped right in. I mean, that's a question that requires a stupid answer, right?! I mean... right?!?!

"Well, first. He goes to the abbattoir with a pan, which he slips under the chicken as it is being slaughtered. I mean, everyone knows the bowels will loosen when something dies, and ...*whoop!*... instant chicken shit..."

My dad was grinning dementedly in the background, and I realized right then and there... he would have said something to that effect if I hadn't jumped in first.

Which makes me wonder if I didn't get my sense of humor straight off the crazy ole block(head), haha :)

Doldrums...

Dunno why, but there they are. The doldrums.

Update: Bored, tired, recovering from food poisoning... (Ooooh, my aching tummy....)

And I got no life, ergo no news. *weep!*
