Major Ouch...

I have grooves in my right thigh deep enough, wide enough, to plant strawberries....

Fucken' crazy cat! That's Football, a.k.a. the Albino Piglet. She eats like one :p She tried jumping (and clinging) onto my bare leg while I was feeding her and the other kittens cheese.

That's her, attempting to look innocent of all charges, bloody criminal! And the alcohol wipes flamin' HURT! :'(

Ok, I gotta rush to work. Isn't she cute though?? :D

p/s: My other kitten, Fluffy (I know...who thinks of these names, right??? Anyway, it's not my idea. Blame the child...Dolly)...got her leg broken. Somehow. Apparently, it's going to cost us (conservative estimate, this..) RM1000 to patch her up. The great mystery is... HOW did she break it? And just the one hind leg?

OMG, a rant's past due!!

So...I took Da Doll to catch the Transformers. Call it a Rite of Passage...mother to child, the sacred passions of my childhood (these include the Thundercats, Pirates of Dark Water, geez...He-Man?....brain drain, brain drain!), passed down. I had a hard time trying to convince Ms. Langkawi Barbie (cuz we're asian, and aren't near Malibu k?) that the Transformers are a rockin'-A cartoon dream come true!!! Hahahaha!

Anyways, she was impressed...but it took her a while, cuz during the drive...well, baby doll wasn't buying it ;) When we got to the cinema, the drama unfurled. An accumulated list of grievances IN the cinema are as follows:

  1. The lights were out, and I only knew our row number...TGV's seat numbers aren't out there where we can see them, ya know? So we asked the couple at the beginning of the row what their seat numbers were, cuz then we'd count off ours. They gawped at us as if we were speaking French or something. Retards. Anyways, we sat down because, hey. We were sort of not transparent, and there were people behind us.

  2. The lady on my left took umbrage about me plopping my butt into the seat next to her. Well, duh! If I could see or at least know which seat numbers were on either side of us, we'd move, yeah? Anyways, I told her so, whipped out my cell to illuminate the number of the seat I was in, and scooted over accordingly.

  3. You know those ads Cineleisure has? About not talking? The irritating cartoon dude and the Wrigley's Spearmint chewing gum?? The one who talks to the screen, then gets shut up by chewing on Wrigley's Spearmint? Hah. I wish I could've stuffed two cartons down the retard's throat that sat behind me. Hello?? If your friend can't read, then ok... repeat the words being written on screen, otherwise...dude. We paid to watch the movie, not listen to you repeat EVERYTHING. I had to turn around at one point, and ask him to stop repeating stuff. He didn't really stop, but he got softer. Or the movie got louder. Whatever.

  4. You know the reason why GSC is doing so much better than TGV? I've not gone for ONE movie...not ONE that hasn't had some screen problem right at the start. Today's problem was the letterbox effect. Or whatever it's called. Fuck, the top of the actors' heads, and the subtitles, got sliced out. Nobody corrected the problem until the attack on SOCCENT in Qatar was through. Fuckers.

  5. The dude who talked through most of the movie? His friend kicks. Doll kept twisting in her seat halfway through the movie. I shushed her, then realized she was getting kicked. Cuz Fatmouth's friend, Striker, has long legs. He used one on Doll's chair, and the other on mine.

I was gonna add in more grievances, but I'm gonna stop there. I think the tone for the evening went wrong about the time the kiasu couple thought I was accusing them of stealing our seats. Hello, asking you "What's your seat number?" isn't the sign of a hostile takeover.

To top off the night, I had to pee. Badly. So I was in a rush to get home. Now, I wasn't speeding...exactly...mind. But I did push the horses a little. I was coming out of the corner where the old TV3 was. Umm... is it still TV3? :) Anyways...Was...Is...whatever.

There was a blue Wira with Malaccan plates and double digits in front of me, and to my left. MY LEFT. Home is the U-turn under the fly-over, and you take the right lane to get there. Yah? Anyways, I pick up speed. There's nobody ahead, and nobody behind. I accelerate... and Malaccan Plates decides to cut in front of me, no signal. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.

I'm accelerating, doofus. Can you NOT tell? Could you NOT wait until I had cleared the stretch to keep right? We were about halfway to the light, and when I highlighted him and stomped on the brakes, he purposely SLOWED DOWN, and started tapping his brakes unnecessarily.

Dude, flex your wrinkled balls someplace more logical. Granted, your girlfriend was in the car next to you, but COME ON!!! Not only are you being infantile, but that's a damned dangerous game to play, even on a deserted stretch. More so when it's not warranted. I did NOT honk you down, I did NOT play bumper tag with you...Fucking find a penis pump, and apply it to your genitalia...

So, anyway. I enjoyed my second viewing of the movie. But I wish to heck I'd packed a bazooka.

I'm NOT sick, but I'm Not Well....(who can tell...??)

Haha, I laugh everytime I hear that song... Weird Al is definitely...weird :)

Anyways, I've been down with the flu!!! Yah... and I've had to cancel lots of classes. Part of that was because my voice had a distinct croak to it. But really, I managed to do a demo jingle last night with my froggy voice, so the real reason is I just don't want to sit in a tiny, enclosed room...spreading my germs around.

Doesn't it bother you to hack, choke, cough, wheeze, and snort indelicately in a confined area? Yeesh.

To prove my earnestness in recovering my full health...Here are photographs evincing my sincere intent!

Evidence 1: I have DRUGS!!! I have compiled my medication and snapped a shot, to prove to you that I have indeed been toking up on drugs up the wazoo! Difflam for the throat, antibiotics for the inflamation in my tonsil area, Panadol for those pesky fevers, zyrtec for the drippies...and cough suppressants. Dang if I know the name :)

Evidence 2: Sickie food!!! ABC soup with some stock. Roots which have sprouted roots, carrots, onions (ONIONS HAVE LAYERS, OGRES HAVE LAYERS....ya geddit?!?!)...and a wee bit of pasta. Heh heh.

Evidence 3: Dark Chocolate... an old wive's tale goes that dark chocolate can ease and appease a sore throat. Studies show that dark chocolate has healing properties!!! :D But really, who can resist those nummilicious, ooshy-squooshy balls of decadent Lind'Or??

Evidence 4: Reese Peanut Butter Cups! The ultimate sickie test... pop a few of those bastards in, and if your sore throat doesn't get worse, it means that the drugs, dark chocolate, and sickie food, have WORKED!!! Hallelujah!

I rest my case :)

To hubby, who has been sending me hate sms for fucking up on the Skype phone purchase, I'd like you to know that yes, my love. I'm feeling better. Thanks for asking. I've been taking care of myself. And I've got the proof for yas. You might never forgive me for not testing that phone, but it's a wee bit hard to when the shop proprietor doesn't have skype, I don't have skype credit, and in general have been ill.

There. NOW I'm done :D

Silly afternoon...

It started with Empress and the Vienese Debutante Ball... Empress had the brainstorm, to get her hair and face done at the Estee Lauder model search, held at Midvalley's Centre Court. For RM300, you get professionally done hair and makeup, a door gift, a professionaly taken A4 photo and a RM250 Estee Lauder voucher, redeemable on the same day.

So me being me, I sat around ragging her and making racist jokes lah. Hawhaw! Anyways, I'd made plans with SoulDoctor to meet up while Empress was having her beautifying session.

When SoulDoc arrived, I decided to tag along with her to hit the ATM, then on the the Dance Shop (for dance shoes), and then to Madam Kwan's for an extremely late lunch. We had a good meal, but a really stoned waiter. He couldn't quite grasp the dynamics of a vegetarian meal, and in his mind, prawns are a type of vegetable.

It was, without belaboring on about it, a very ridiculous 3 minutes spent on ordering food :p

Anyway, I'm fairly sure we spent a half hour (or less) at Madam Kwan's... catching up on news. SoulDoc's in the Starmaker Music Theatre bootcamp, and she had a lot of interesting stories to tell :) Empress, however, had yet to join us, so we decided to just pick up the bill and join her instead.

When we got there, she was just getting her hair done. Mind you, an hour on makeup isn't very funny, okay :p Anyways, long-long-LONG story short, a series of factors (Sheila, the salesgirl, who was really sweet and a little pitiful hehe....SoulDoc, who'd shamed me into getting a shot done for future show ads, and Empress, who'd ragged me about...I can't even remember. I was fairly sure I was the one doing the ragging :p) contributed to my decision to glam up and get snapped.

Here's the standard touched-up version. I am definitely showing my chinese side more, ironically. Considering my racist jokes were of the anti-chinese look bent :p

Well, I didn't want to waste a good set of makeup, so I asked my sis (the one who was home...:p) to take a few test shots. These are a couple of her shots.

I favour not looking at the camera. What do you think?

Also, I do not favor my hair standing about 5 inches above my head. Especially if it's just my fringe :p

Moi, showing off eyeball versatility...look, Ma!! I can look to the left! Hoo-hoooo!!

Dead on. Prefer this pose to the one the photog/touch-up artist chose.

Anyway, that being said, I liked the end result. Despite my personal preferences on hair, the original do didn't turn out too bad :p Also, the make up did NOT take me an hour *coughEmpresscough!* to complete, so I'm really pleased with that part of it too :)

Sis is gonna touch up those pics she took, Photoshop them so I can use them for any future gig promo material, and in the meantime... I'm Sally Jang...whatcha think? :)

P/s: SoulDoc, I'm putting these up for you, k??

7 Weeks Have Gone So Fast....

*sung to the tune of GreenDay's Wake Me Up When September Ends*

First was the reunion in Bangkok... then 2 weeks of stay-at-home living, due to budgetary constraints. We got a taste of how our lives could be, if the hubby hadn't snagged a job in the Oil field. I was content, but hubby....wasn't.

I get a lot of comments from my dad that I have a lot of material desires.

I agree to a point. The point ends where the disposable income does. I mean, I could stay at home and bum and spend a little, or have a lot and blow it on a spree.

But. I would make do. I can make do. I don't get pissy, don't bemoan the lack of entertainment (bless the Internet, Sims 2 and Play Station!!) and I can improvise. Fallback position? Read and re-read the gadzillion books I've accumulated.

A snake is a snake. Food is for when you're hungry. Sleep is for all the others times you're not hungry. This is a good attitude to take when you don't have a 9-5 job. Kids, don't try this at home!

I've enjoyed reality, or what I could have of it. I managed to say goodbye today without shedding too many tears. 3 weeks... what a bonus! I'd said my goodbyes 3 weeks ago... the rest was just...bliss.

If none of you have lived without your loved ones for more than a month, for years on end, you won't appreciate what you've got. A full-time companion. A shoulder, strong arms, someone to smother with love, to bite in your anger, to kick in your pain, to hug in your loneliness and to kiss in your... well...to kiss ;)

If you appreciate him/her, despite the lack of time apart? You're the luckiest person around, and I salute you. I have loved all the aspects of a relationship. Have lived it the past few weeks. Have indulged in the sulks, shared in the laughter, shared a few germs (damn these colds :p) and basically just become closer in mind, spirit and body. Well, coulda been more body, but who's complaining, right?

A relationship should rock. Left to right, side to side, up and down. Fricking literally ROCK!!! If the seas were calm, you'd go no-place fast. And that's a solid truth. I love it. And I love my marriage. Risking your emotions is one of the greater thrills a person can live through in one's lifetime.

And I've had a hell of a ride. Now I need at least two months to recuperate. Check back here in two months to hear me whine, eh? ;)

This Weekend...

We went to Lumut. Had a moderately fun time :D Took pictures (which I've left to sit in my camera) and am posting up the ones that were in my mobile...

Mostly our foodie journey up to Lumut, so here's what we had for lunch. Stopped by at Sekinchang, the place is an old riverside hangout my parents like to go to from time to time. The last time I was here, I was knee high to a duck. Sad but true. This visit, the food wasn't all that impressive, but the noodles and calamari were fantastic :)

Sweet n' Sour crabs, and sib's boobs.... the crabs, apparently, were on the geriatric end of the life spectrum...Sib's boobs still okay for a few more decades ;)

Something called the bamboo oyster. Or lala...or whatever the fuck. I don't eat shellfish, so I dunno. I heard these were too big. What the fuck, discrimination comes in all shapes and ages :p

Okay, these passed muster. Crisp, not soggy and wilted with oil, light batter and great squid...not old and tough and stringy, nor crunchy. Perfect :)

Aaaand this is the right hand ring hubby bought for me yesterday. It's not a great example of the marquise cut, but the setting is such that the shallowness of the stone isn't obvious, and it sparkles whichever way I turn my fingers. It's gorgeous squared! Well, gorgeous marquise, I should say...Unfortunately, I had some problems taking a picture of it at a decent distance... the limitations of my little camera.

As hubby says, it's a sweetheart gift. Not something bought for value, but for decoration. I love it!!!

Since the Cammies...

Yeah, following from the post before the last...

Our CircleSong group... it can get pretty intense. We're putting up a show in September, and we're doing totally amazing stuff. We don't have what you'd call "rehearsal" sessions because we don't have fixed material to rehearse. Rather, we make stuff up as we go along and come up with some unique sounds. The group is starting to really grow both creatively and socially, so I'm expecting big things from this project :)

Kakiseni reunites with esteemed (totally cool, and utterly whacked) boss Kathy Rowland, who was back solely for the Awards. The funky new hairdo is tres hip, whatcha think? :) Zedeck's victory cheer (goodness knows why)...and party crashers Nicole, SoulDoc and hubby...and me. Hehe :p

Raju's, our regular hangout, is saturated with waiters who trip over themselves to serve Miss Universe 1969, Viji... a fact that never fails to amuse, hawhaw :D Anyway, al fresco dining...quite nice lah. A bit of an adventure too. You never know when something will fall from the trees.. if you're lucky, it's just parts of the tree, and not its avian visitors :p

The Awards night was fun. Dressed up for once, then found it deucedly awkward and way too bulky to dance at the after-party party. Cheh. That'll teach me to conform!!! :D Don't have a piccie of me, but I do have one of Ju, wielding my mask for the night, which I hardly put up to my face, ha! I know, so lazy kan? Love the mask though! :D

Wither Ms. Read's Delicious goeth, we shalt follow! And my stomach led me unerringly to my favorite dessert of all time from said restaurant, the Berrylicious Chocolate Pavlova! Note that it'd been consumed with much gusto, before I decided to snap a few photos of it with my new phone.

That's a pic of Hubby's new tattoo...it's supposed to be some protective symbol. I think he definitely needs it. He's managed to mash his fingers up while working, and picked up a few other work-related injuries along the way :p I'd tell him to pray more often, but I think he's a bit disillusioned at the moment. The year of the Pig hasn't been kind at all :) We're just weathering it out...

Umm...did I mention I got a new phone? Yeah, the old one died. Don't blame me!! I've got to admit I do change my phone a bit too often, but this time, it was totally warranted! My N73 was figuratively coughing up blood... it was on its last gasp :p I'm still trying to figure out how GPS will benefit me, but being able to wi-fi from my phone at Starbucks is pretty fracking awesome too, hehehe :D

Anyways, that's it for now. Have a date with the hubby to watch some cartoon on DVD with Da Doll ;)

Inanity...

What is that bulge that fell from my face?
Oh fuck it's my chin, and it ain't goin' no place...
Except for where dear gravity calls...
Whoop there it goes, watch as it falls!

Bloomp, blurble, bleep, blooooot...
I can feel my flab bobble like a string to a boot,
Wheeeeee!! Can't you see?! There's a zit on the tip,
If I keep eating this way, it'll outgrow my lip!

Fuck if I know when the cravings'll go 'way,
Heck, for all I know, it's here to stay!
Oh well, what the hell, I'll ride this bitch through...
Good thing hubby loves me, as I am...'deed he do ;)

When We Got Home...

Nics roped us in to Front of House for the Beckett production she and the KL Ensemble Theatre Group had put up at the Stor, DBKL. While there, we managed to terrorize a family of feral felines, scared off the F&B boys (after first buying up their entire stock), amused Shiraz, traumatized Chris (Jacobs) and....watched helplessly as a poor homeless cat at the mamak we had supper at get run over by some speed-crazed road hog.

I was totally useless man! I just screamed when I saw that poor ginger tabby fold onto the ground in a daze, blood running from its nostrils. Nics and Hazlin were quick, grabbing a towel from only God-knows-where, and wrapping the poor cat in it. Nobody saw it happen, but I kinda knew it was going to (subconsciously) when I heard the roar of an engine going way too fast for the back lane of a high-rise residential area, and the awareness of the cat being behind me. My back was to the main road.

Think about it. If the guy had been drunk, he might have just as easily hit one of us. Bastard.

Bloody slimy, fucking, BASTARD. He didn't even stop to see what the ruckus was about!!

Some cursed instinct had me turning around in time to see the cat get knocked. For some strange reason, my eyes were totally focused on it. The beacon of bright ginger, and everything happening as if in slow motion. I barely registered the vehicle that ran over it, it was that fast. It was a dark blur, and the poor animal was tumbled around before crumpling to the ground.

It couldn't have taken more than a few seconds.

And I screamed. Uselessly. Helplessly. And couldn't make a move to help it.

Nics is a member of a Pet Rescue team that operates without sponsorship, and totally on their own free time. She and her hubby, Kenneth, took the poor cat (I'd given it up for dead) to the vet along Jalan Ipoh, paid for its medication and examination out of their own pockets, and moved the cat to her regular vet in Shah Alam where they charge way less to help the poor animal.

There hasn't been any positive news so far, but this cat, if it lives without being brain-damaged, will be housed by the Pet Rescue team until some kind humanitarian will take it in. The Selangor Phil might try raise funds to assist in any way the Pet Rescue team effort, if I can have my way with the committee.

After watching them in action, I think they really deserve every single bit of help they can get. If ANYONE wants to get in touch with these guys, to adopt some poor homeless cat, dog, or to even volunteer some time, find Nics through the link to her blog provided.

Photo time:

On the way to the mamak was, in typical Malaysian fashion, this....

If you ask me, there's something wrong with Malaysians in general. I mean, we ATE at the mamak with this garbage flavoring our food and permeating our olfactory senses.

In between the matinee and the evening performance, hauled SoulDoc to Sg. Wang to shop. She picked this up. Wonder if it's quirky, or just wrong. What think you??

Firstly....Bangkok!!!

The view from a tuk-tuk!! We raced around in one of these (futilely) on the day of our departure... I say futilely because we should have realized nothing would be open at 8:30am. I blame my mom and her insane sms asking us to bring back a batch of lotus seeds (for propogation)...on a Monday. I mean, c'mon. We spent both Saturday and Sunday at Chatuchak...and she couldn't've remembered to ask for it then???

I don't think that dude realized his CarryBoy*tm* was flapping up, ready to bitch-slap an unsuspecting motorcyclist on the face.

The view of the pool from the balcony of our room on the 26th floor. I have pics of every room in our 2-room suite. I thought it was really nice of them to upgrade our one-room suite to a two-room, but totally unnecessary. There was just me and the hubby. However, it was fully equipped for long stays, so I'll definitely be recommending the Somerset to my family...

That's the bar-style dining table, and beyond that is a complete kitchen. It's got the necessary cutlery for a family of four, cooking utensils, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, full-sized fridge, washing-up detergent that came complete with an unopened scouring sponge, and an exhaust fan (hubby says that's what it's called...) to clear the air of redolent cooking scents.

The contrast of Bangkok. Right outside our hotel, an old housing area. Somewhat shabby, run-down, grungy. And right next door is that building. On the same block. Beyond that is the "lake" that our hotel is named after, directly in front of the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre. The musical fountain provided some interesting lighting at night.

I didn't take any pictures while I was roaming the city, I was spending too much time shopping and enjoying the accent of the recorded voice they play on the MRT... :D I was just glad to have hubby back. We were on a budget (which we blew), yet managed to have as much fun as possible.
